After more than 75 years of excellence, now is the time for every member of our community to join together for the future of Holyoke Community College.
Holyoke Community College aspires to be a college of academic excellence known for helping students overcome barriers to success. This vision guides all that we do. We are determined to make real, lasting change in three broad areas: Teaching and Learning, Inclusion and Student Success, and Facilities and Infrastructure.

As the oldest community college in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, HCC has a 75-year track record of academic excellence and opportunity. Our students routinely transfer to prestigious colleges and universities; while others enter the workforce upon completion of their program, ready to perform at the highest level. We take seriously our role as an institution of higher learning and an economic driver.
Today, HCC continues to serve the community, educating approximately 7,500 students annually through 90+ degree and certificate programs, as well as workforce and professional development courses. HCC provides pathways to jobs and advanced education for students of all ages, economic backgrounds and levels of educational attainment.
A Hispanic Serving Institution since 2016, HCC strives to create an inclusive and welcoming environment that promotes engagement and fosters a sense of belonging. The college’s Strategic Plan prioritizes the development of culturally responsive teaching, new strategies for retention and completion, and an alignment with emerging industries to meet the needs of the region’s employers.
Our strongest assets continue to be our innovative spirit, a deep commitment to our students, and a singular dedication to excellence. These foundational values have spanned decades, and fuel us to reach further and go farther today.
The landscape of higher education has changed dramatically over the last decade, and even more so within the last few years, as students’ expectations of what their college experience should be like has also changed. At HCC, we must stay on the cutting edge and remain continuously responsive to students’ needs in order to best support them in reaching their fullest potential.
Now is the time for us to secure the necessary resources for HCC to strengthen our impact on our students and the region, and to carry forward HCC’s legacy of excellence for the next 75 years.
