Facilities + Infrastructure

First impressions are everything, and the right environment can make all the difference to a student feeling inspired, engaged, and connected. We’re proud of the academic experience students have here, and we want students to be proud of their campus. And as we look toward the future we acknowledge that deferred maintenance and upkeep of the College’s physical plant is imperative if we are to continue being good stewards of the College’s physical assets that have served the institution and our students so well for so long. In addition, the state’s financial investment in the college accounts for roughly two-thirds (64%) of the college’s annual budget, leaving the rest of the HCC experience to be fueled by donors like you. When you support HCC’s Annual Fund, it helps bridge the gap between state support and the actual cost of running the college—everything from funding scholarships to supporting technology needs in the classroom to offsetting the ever-increasing cost of textbooks. Although the college receives a portion of its yearly budget from the state, that allocation no longer covers the cost of operations. A beautiful campus instills in our students a deep sense of pride. Welcoming students to a campus that has been thoughtfully renovated and that prioritizes universal design is one of our highest priorities. For the Future endeavors to raise the necessary funds to:

Advance universal design across campus and enhance security and wifi access, thereby creating a campus that is accessible to all.

Complete the renovation of our Marieb Life Sciences Building.

Beautify campus by creating outdoor classrooms, gardening space, and reducing the College’s carbon
footprint.

Renovate the Library to create a true 21st-century learning commons.

Invest in health, wellness, and athletics by renovating and creating new fields and courts for use by students and the surrounding community.

Renovate our Leslie Phillips Theater, the heartbeat of HCC’s fine and performing arts programs that inspire our students and greater community alike.
