Inclusion + Student Success

I don’t think I’d be at Mount Holyoke right now if it wasn’t for HCC. HCC really prepared me very nicely in terms of the workload and course formats. It is such an amazing school, and it definitely sets students up for success.

Nothing else we do to improve the quality of an HCC education will matter if students and families can’t access and afford the opportunities we offer – opportunities to grow as leaders, scholars, and active participants in the community. We take seriously our commitment to inclusion and student success and are prioritizing initiatives to address food and housing insecurity and closing the equity gaps in access, retention, and degree completion. We aspire to offer the region’s most accessible and innovative student- centered programs. With your support, we plan to:
Provide every HCC student with scholarship support.
Further invest in mental health support services for students.
Provide greater access to books and access to Open Educational Resources (OER) so students have what they need for every class, always.
Create additional career pathways for job-seeking students through mentorship and internship programs.
Eliminate the childcare barrier many student- parents face.
Launch digital equity initiatives ensuring all students can access online learning opportunities and platforms.
Develop and strengthen housing partnerships that reduce and eliminate housing insecurity for HCC students.
Create pathways for mentorship and foster a greater sense of belonging for BIPOC students.
Build community – through physical space and new programs – for our adult learners, who comprise more than 33% of HCC’s student population.
